With just a couple of days away from the official launch, Huawei Mate 9 is now spotted again. Though these images are leaked just 2 days ahead of launch but the authenticity and the time when it was taken is a bit of mystery.
In the images, the device appears to be the regular Mate 9 with no curved edges in the gold colour variant. But, at the back of the device, there is no Leica branding. Now, every leak which has popped up until now had a mention of Huawei collaborating with Leica for camera modules so we are not sure if Huawei decided to drop the same or this image is merely a prototype of the final unit. Further, the black inline in the camera lens is also missing so we would recommend taking this image leak with a pinch of salt.
Huawei is all set to launch the new Mate 9 on November 3 and the company has already released a couple of teasers boasting the new Kirin 960 Processor and the camera capabilities of the upcoming Mate 9. Moreover, Huawei is also likely to launch Mate 9 Pro with dual curved edged display and a Quad HD display.
Summing up the rumoured specifications as we have mentioned before, Huawei Mate 9 is expected to come with 5.9-inch Full HD (1920 x 1080 resolution) Neo IPS LCD display. Underneath the hood, it will sport Huawei’s own Kirin 960 octa-core Chipset paired with 4GB of RAM which is pretty much standard flagship specifications. Moreover, as mentioned previously, the Kirin 960 chipset is said to consist of four Cortex-A73 cores and four low-power Cortex-A53 cores and it will be clocked at 2.6 GHz. The chip is also expected to be manufactured using the 16nm process and there is ARM Mali T880 GPU for graphics.
In the camera department, the device will feature a dual-camera set up with one being a Monochrome sensor and the other one as an RGB sensor. The resolution is said to be 20 megapixels. Just like the P9, Huawei has partnered with Leica this time as well and has come up with a unique Picture Quality Algorithm developed by both the companies. Further, the absent OIS in P9 will not follow through and Huawei is likely to implement OIS in Mate 9’s dual camera set up. Adding to this, Mate 9’s camera set up will also feature f/2.0 aperture, 4x optical zoom, laser auto-focus, hybrid auto-focus feature, contrast focus and depth focus. The device will come in three storage options – 64GB, 128GB and 256 GB of course with different prices of all the three variants.
Regarding the price, Huawei Mate 9 will be priced at $480 (Rs 32,000)for 64GB variant going up to $700 (Rs 48,600) for 256GB variant while Huawei Mate 9 Pro is likely to be priced at $1,300 which is around Rs 93,600.
