Huawei Mate 9 Pro to come with Curved Quad HD Display

With the curved display and Quad HS resolution, the pro variant will come with a much higher price.

Huawei Mate 9 (codenamed: Long Island) has been one of the most rumoured smartphones lately. In the latest round of leaks, Evan Blass (@eveleaks) has revealed the Mate 9 Pro, there have been leaks suggesting that the device might have a pro variant as well, which at first glance looks exactly like the infamous Galaxy Note 7 may come withcurved display on both sides.

Summing up the rumoured specifications as we have mentioned before, Huawei Mate 9 is expected to come with 5.9-inch Full HD (1920 x 1080 resolution) Neo IPS LCD display. Underneath the hood, it will sport Huawei’s own Kirin 960 octa-core paired with 4GB of RAM which is pretty much standard flagship specifications. Moreover, as mentioned previously, the Kirin 960 chipset is said to consist of four Cortex-A73 cores and four low-power Cortex-A53 cores and it will be clocked at 2.6 GHz. The chip is also expected to be manufactured using the 16nm process and there is ARM Mali T880 for graphics.

In the camera department, the device will feature a dual-camera set up with one being a sensor and the other one as an RGB sensor. The resolution is said to be 20 megapixels. Just like the P9, Huawei has partnered with Leica this time as well and has come up with a unique Picture Quality Algorithm developed by both the companies. Further, the absent OIS in P9 will not follow through and Huawei is likely to implement OIS in Mate 9’s dual camera set up. Adding to this, Mate 9’s camera set up will also feature f/2.0 aperture, 4x optical zoom, laser auto-focus, hybrid auto-focus feature, contrast focus and depth focus.

The device will come in three storage options – 64GB, 128GB and 256 of course with different prices of all the three variants.

However, the above-mentioned specifications are of Mate 9. The Pro variant is the one which comes with curved display with a Quad HD resolution. Quad HD resolution means the Pro variant will be Google DayDream compatible and of course it will improve the screen quality. So the non-Pro Mate 9 will feature a normal non-curved display.

With the curved display and higher resolution, Huawei Mate 9 Pro is likely to be priced at $1,300 which is around Rs 93,600, claims Evan. Also, this is likely to be the price for 256GB variant.

On the other hand, Huawei Mate 9 will be priced at $480 (Rs 32,000)for 64GB variant going up to $700 (Rs 48,600) for 256GB variant.

Well, even though with the curved display and Quad HD screen, the price of Mate 9 pro seems to be too ambitious for Huawei. Though, Mate 9 regular version seems ok for that price.

Nevertheless, the company is expected to launch the device on November 3 in Munich where it has already scheduled an event.
