The rumoured Mate 9 Pro variant has been launched with the name Mate 9 Porsche design.

Yesterday, at an event in Munich, Huawei has finally unveiled its one of the most rumoured device – the Mate 9.

Mate 9 was aggressively rumoured since past two weeks with Huawei itself releasing teasers showcasing what Mate 9 will be capable off. The device will be first available in China and Europe followed by the US Market. The Europe price was quoted to be €699 (approx. Rs 51,700) making the Mate 9 one of the most premium devices Huawei has ever made.

Jumping straight into the specifications, Mate 9 comes with a huge 5.9 inch Full 1920 x 1080 display. The entire device is made out of metal and the fingerprint scanner lies at the back as it was rumoured. On the inside, as teased by Huawei earlier, Mate 9 sports a 2.4 GHz Octa-Core Kirin 960 processor with Mali-G71 MP8 for graphics and gaming. The device comes with 64 internal storage which is expandable up to 256GB irrespective of whether it is a Dual SIM device or not. In other words, if it’s a Single SIM device then it will come with a dedicated card otherwise a hybrid Dual SIM slot.

Coming to the camera, Huawei boasted quite a bit about the new Leica partnered sensor or on the Mate 9. As rumoured , the Mate 9 comes with dual-camera set up one being a 12-megapixel sensor and the other one being a 20-megapixel sensor with f/2.2 aperture, OIS, 2x zoom, Leica optics, phase detection & laser autofocus, dual-LED (dual tone) Flash. At the front, there is an 8-megapixel shooter with f/1.9 and 1080p video recording capabilities. Huawei is known to give good cameras in smartphones and with Leica partnership as we saw in the P9, the game will only improve.

Now for the battery, Huawei has given a 4000 battery which is non-removable but given it sports a 1080p screen, battery life shouldn’t be an issue on this device. The device comes running on 7.0 Nougat out of the box with EMUI 5.0 on top. Connectivity options such as Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, v4.2, GPS, etc are there with USB connector which supports quick charging.

There was another device which was rumoured and that was Mate 9 Pro. Well, Huawei changed their a little bit and introduced Mate 9 Porsche Design which comes with a price tag of €1345 (approx. Rs 99,500). The Porsche Design variant shares a lot of internals with the regular Mate 9 except that it comes with a 5.5 inch Quad HD which is curved around the edges. Due to the smaller display, Huawei managed to put a Home button on the front which doubles up as the fingerprint reader. Lastly, the Porsche Design comes with a whopping 6GB RAM.
