Huawei Mate 30 Pro with 3D ‘Horizon’ Display, Mate 30 with Kirin 990 5G SoC announced

Huawei Mate 30 Pro will feature a 6.53-inch Full HD+ OLED ‘Horizon’ display with a screen resolution of 2400 x 1176 pixels, quad-camera setup comprising of a 40MP Super Sensing camera, 40MP ultra-wide Cine Camera, an 8MP telephoto shooter and a 3D ToF lens for depth sensing.

At an event labelled “Rethink Possibilities” in Munich, Germany, Huawei has unveiled the Huawei Mate 30, Mate 30 Pro and Mate 30 RS Porsche Design smartphones. The Mate 30 will be available for a starting price of€800 (approx. Rs 63,300) and the Mate 30 Pro 8GB+256GB will be available for €1,100 (approx. Rs 87,000). TheMate 30 Pro with8GB RAM and 256GB storage will cost€1,200 (approx. Rs 95,000).

The Huawei Mate 30 Pro features a 6.53-inch Full OLED ‘Horizon’ display with a screen resolution of 2400 x 1176 pixels, 88-degree curved edges, DCI-P3 colour gamut and HDR support. It’s powered by a Hisilicon Kirin 990 based on a 7nm+ EUV process with Mali-G76 MP16 GPU, 8GB RAM and 128GB/256GB storage options. There’s an NM card slot that can expand the storage to up to 256GB. The phone offers virtual buttons for volume and shutter, an in-display fingerprint reader and is water-resistant.

For camera, the Mate 30 Pro will feature a quad-camera setup comprising of a 40MP Super Sensing camera with f/1.6 and OIS; a 40MP ultra-wide Cine Camera with f/1.8 aperture, 1/1.54-inch sensor and 3:2 aspect; an 8MP telephoto shooter with 80mm focal length, 3x optical and f/2.4 aperture; and a 3D ToF lens for depth sensing. The camera supports video recording at 60fps, 4K time-lapse, 7,680fps at 720p and up to ISO 52,000.

There’s a 32MP selfie camera, a 3D depth sensor and a dedicated sensor to recognize hand gestures on the front side inside the notch.

The Mate 30 Pro comes with a 4,500mAh battery with 27W wireless charging, 40W wired charging and reverse wireless charging. The phone supports 5G cellular connectivity and offers a total of 21 antennas, 14 of which are for 5G. The phone runs on EMUI 10 based on 10. Itmeasures 158.1 x 73.1 x 8.8mm and weighs 198 grams.

The Mate 30 features a 6.62 Full HD+ OLED FullView display with a resolution of 1,080 x 2,340px, 19.5:9 aspect ratio, Anti Blue Light protection, DCI-P3 HDR and HDR10 support. The device is powered by the Kirin 990 chipset based on a 7nm+ EUV process with Mali-G76 MP16 GPU, 6GB/8GB RAM and 128GB storage. There’s an NM card slot that can expand the storage to up to 256GB. The Mate 30 is rated IP53 splash-proof.

In terms of imaging, the Mate 30 offers a quad-camera setup comprising of a 40MP Super Sensing camera with f/1.8 aperture, RYYB colour filter and 27mm focal length; a 16MP ultrawide camera with f/2.2 aperture and 17mm focal length; an 8MP telephoto camera with 3x optical and 30X and a Laser focus camera. There’s a 24MP RGB selfie camera on the front.

The Mate 30 is backed by a 4,200mAh battery with 40W wired charging and 27W wireless charging. There’s an in-display fingerprint reader.The phone measures 160.8 x 76.1 x 8.4 mm and weighs 196 grams.

Huawei also announced the Mate 30 RS Porsche Design with the same specifications and quad-camera setup as the Mate 30 Pro but with a different design. The Porsche Design model comes with a camera setup embedded in the vertical strip of glass instead of being inside a circular module. This vertical strip of glass is surrounded by a leather finish and a Porsche Design logo at the centre.

Both the Mate 30 and Mate 30 Pro are available in Black, Space Silver, Cosmic Purple, Emerald Green which are all matte+glossy backed models while the Orange and Forest Green models are available in a vegan leather finish.TheMate 30 RS Porsche Design will be available in Black and Red leather variants, each with a black strip.
