Huawei is building up the anticipation for Mate 9 on daily basis now. Yesterday, the company released a teaser which emphasised the camera capabilities and today, Huawei’s official twitter account posted a small three second video boasting about the new Kirin 960 SoC which indirectly confirms that Mate 9 will come with the new in-house Processor of Huawei.
Huawei has been pretty consistent with its own chipsets but unfortunately they have never been on par with the likes of Snapdragon or MediaTek. However, this is likely to change with the Kirin 960. In the teaser released today, Huawei claims that the new SoC will boost the Graphic Performance by 180% coming with ARM’s Mali-G71 GPU. The teaser also reveals that the new SoC will offer double data speeds and improve CPU performance by 18% with a bump to Cortex A 73 cores.
Moreover, yesterday, Huawei released a teaser image concentrating on the camera capabilities. As rumoured earlier, the device will feature a dual-camera set up with one being a Monochrome sensor and the other one as an RGB sensor. The Resolution is said to be 20 megapixels. Just like the P9, Huawei has partnered with Leica this time as well and has come up with a unique Picture Quality Algorithm developed by both the companies. Further, the absent OIS in P9 will not follow through and Huawei is likely to implement OIS in Mate 9’s dual camera set up. Adding to this, Mate 9’s camera set up will also feature f/2.0 aperture, 4x optical zoom, laser auto-focus, hybrid auto-focus feature, contrast focus and depth focus.
Huawei is all set to launch both Huawei Mate 9 and Mate 9 pro on November 3 after the company sent out invited for the same. The Pro variant will come with the dual curved display just like we saw on Galaxy Note 7 or the recently launched Mi Note 2 from Xiaomi. It will also come with a Quad HD display instead of a 1080p display as on Mate 9. Apart from this, both the regular and Pro variants are identical in terms of specifications.
Pricing, however, is still a suspense and leaked prices of Mate 9 and Pro so far has been a bit surprising with Mate 9 Pro to have a price tag of as high as $1,300. The regular Mate 9 is expected to be priced at $480 (Rs 32,000) for 64GB variant going up to $700 (Rs 48,600) for 256GB variant.
