As expected previously, Huawei has finally taken the wrappers off its latest Android-based software – EMUI 10. The software will be based on Android Q which itself is up for launch in Q3 this year and will bring a system-wide dark mode, Always on Display, revamped UI and better performance. The announcement comes after Huawei unveiled its own HarmonyOS for smartwatches, smartscreens, smart speakers.
First things first, Huawei’s presentation of EMUI 10 showed rounded UI icons, new animations and a multi-screen UI. The company also stressed that the software will come with a system-wide dark mode which will blend well with third-party apps with changes to icons, texts, colours and contrast upon enabling.
On the performance front, Huawei claims that EMUI 10 will offer a 60 percent boost when using GPU Turbo. Huawei phones will also be able to offer 20 percent better performance in EROFS files system which was introduced last month. There will also be optimisation in Turbo Link with as much as 70 percent increase inefficiency.
EMUI 10 will be able to offer 1080P FHD video calling across Huawei smartphones and smart-screens at home. Huawei has integrated the software inside the new HiCar UI which will be enabled by 30 automobile makers on 120 car models. HiCar will allow users to check the car status, switch on the AC, access car’s camera, play music and navigate.
The latest Huawei software will allow native interconnection between smartphones and PCs. As for the design, EMUI will offer large texts and grid arranged many with large blank spaces for users to move through, similar to Samsung’s One UI.
Huawei has claimed that the Huawei P30 series will be the first to get the EMUI 10 beta update on September 8. However, the upcoming Mate 30 series will be the first phones to run EMUI 10 out of the box. The company has also promised that EMUI 10 will later be seeded to the Mate 20, Mate 20 Pro, Mate20 X and Mate20 RS Porsche Design in September. Magic UI 3.0 based on Android Q will also start rolling out to Honor 20, Honor 20 Pro, Honor V20 and Honor Magic 2 in September.
