HTC is working on its next-generation of a flagship device, the HTC U12 (or HTC U12+ as per earlier leaks). The smartphone has been subjected to various leaks and rumours in the past. Now the HTC U12 has been found listed on Verizon’s Open Development website. The listing on the website reveals the key details about the internal hardware specs of the HTC’s upcoming flagship. The phone is listed as the U12 however the picture of the U11 is shown.
The listing reveals that the HTC U12 features a frame-less (bezel-less) Super LCD 6 display with a WQHD resolution. The display is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass. On the software side, the HTC U12 will run Android Oreo with HTC Sense Companion overlay. It also has a 3,500mAh battery supporting Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 1.0 for fast charging. The device is IP68 certified for water and dust resistance. Sadly, the Verizon Open Development listing lists LTE Cat 12 which is pretty old standard as compared to Cat 18 in Snapdragon 845. However, in the listing, there is no mention of other important specs like Processor and the camera configuration.
As per a recent report, HTC U12 might launch in May end or early June. HTC will make U12 available for purchase in Taiwan by the end of May or early June. The HTC U12 64 GB model price is not known at the moment, but the 128 GB model is expected to launch in Taiwan at NT$ 24,900 (approx. Rs 55,990).
As per the earlier leak, the HTC U12+ will feature a 5.99-inch display with the LCD technology and a Quad HD+ resolution of 2960 x 1440 pixels. It will be powered by Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 845 processor along with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. The smartphone will run on Android 8.1 Oreo operating system and will be backed up by 3420 mAh battery. For the camera, the new leak says that the device will have a dual rear camera of 12-megapixel and 16-megapixel sensors. In the front, there is another dual camera setup with a pair of 8-megapixel sensors.
