HTC U11 starts receiving Android Oreo update

The update comes with a patch number of 2.31.709.1 and update has brought the latest security patch of November month.

HTC has started rolling out Android 8.0 Oreo update for its flagship device, the U11. The latest update has started rolling out to users in Taiwan.

Multiple users have shared the screenshots on Twitter, which confirms that the software update is about 1.3GB in size. The update comes with a patch number of 2.31.709.1 and update has brought the latest security patch of November month. To recall, the smartphone was launched with Android 7.1.1 Nougat with HTC Sense UI running on top of it.

With the latest update, the smartphone will have picture-in-picture mode that lets users to two tasks simultaneously. So, for example, one can minimise a YouTube video while sending a text message or writing an email. Android Oreo has other features like including Background limits, installation of apps via APK, over 60 new emojis, notification dots, Wide-gamut colour for apps, Snoozing individual notification, Adaptive icons, Keyboard navigation, WebView enhancements and much more.

To recall, the company launched the HTC U11 smartphone in India in June this year. The smartphone comes with a price tag of Rs 51,990 and it is available from Amazon India and key offline retail stores. The smartphone comes in Amazing Silver and Brillant Black colour options.

Recollecting some key specs, HTC U11 has a 5.5-inch Quad Super LCD 5 display with 3D 5 protection and having the screen resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels. Under the hood, it is powered by the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor clocked at 2.4GHz along with Adreno 540 GPU. The smartphone has 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage, which can be further expandable up to 2TB via card.

On the camera front, it comes loaded with a 12-megapixel rear camera with recording, autofocus, HDR photo, LED Flash and face detection. The device comes with advanced HDR settings such as HDR+, Smart Video Zoom, 3D Audio and Hi-Res recording features. The phone also comes with certification water and dust proof. For the front, there is a 16-megapixel shooter for selfies and video calling.

HTC U11 runs on the latest Android 7.1.1 Nougat and has HTC’s Sense 9.0 skin on top of it. On the battery front, it has a 3000 unit with Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0, which claims to deliver a talk time of up to 24.5 hours and standby time of up to 14 days. It has hybrid dual SIM slot (nano-SIM). Besides, the smartphone offers 4G, USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-C port, GPS/AGPS, GLONASS, Beidou, 4.2, (802.11 a/b/g/n/ac (2.4 & 5GHz)) and NFC.
