HTC U will be officially unveiled on May 16, will come with Bluetooth 5 and Edge Sense gesture

The company teased a five-second video along with a tagline, “Squeeze for the Brilliant U” on its official Twitter handle.

Just a few hours before, we reported that the HTC U will come equipped with the latest 5 and now in the latest development, the company has finally confirmed the official unveiling of the upcoming smartphone. HTC has announced that its next flagship device will be launching on May 16.

The company teased a five-second video along with a tagline, “Squeeze for the Brilliant U” on its official Twitter handle. The tagline confirms that the upcoming device will come loaded with the Sense gesture. The new feature will be infused on the side edges of the screen and will allow users to interact by ‘squeezing’ the edge of the phone frame.

An earlier leak depicted that that user needs to short squeeze the Edge Sense in order to perform tasks like launch Camera, Google Assistant, HTC Sense Companion, or even turning on the Hotspot. There is also an option to long squeeze as well, which might have some different functionality as well. However, the feature looks promising on paper, but it would be interesting the implementation of the same.

Recollecting some key specifications, the device will come loaded with a 5.5-inch WQHD display with 3D Gorilla Glass 5 protection. Under the hood, there will be a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 and there will two variants in terms of memory and storage. The device will come with 4GB of and 64GB of internal storage and 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage.

On the camera front, the phone will boast a 12-megapixel rear camera and a 16-megapixel front-facing camera. HTC U will run on the latest 7.1 Nougat with company’s own Sense 9 UI running on top of it and it will be juiced up by a 3000mAh battery with Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0. Further, it will support connectivity options including, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 4.2 and a fingerprint sensor integrated into the home button.
