HTC to provide services for Google Pixel phones in India

Contrary to this, in the United States, Google has its own service centers.

Google announced its smartphones on October 4 and they are now available in India for pre-orders. However, in absence of Google service centres, many were left wondering whom to approach if something goes wrong in the Pixel devices. To address that concern, Google has now teamed up with HTC whose service centres in India can now be approached by Pixel owners for services.

Previously, Google Nexus devices were manufactured by other device makers who used to provide the warranty on the devices. This year, Google claimed that Pixel and Pixel has been ‘Made by Google’ although we knew that HTC actually manufactured the hardware. As Google didn’t mention anything about HTC at the launch event, we were a little skeptical about this issue.

To clear the air, a Google spokesperson told GSMarena: “We have partnered with HTC India for after sales service in 56 walk-in service centeres in over 30 cities”

Contrary to this, in the United States, Google has its own service centers. Back in 2013, when Nexus 5 was launched, Google replaced a major chunk of Nexus 5 units due to a screen issue. This never happened in India as it was LG who provided after-sale service.

Google Pixel smartphones are being imported to India and apart from HTC’s official stores, Google will sell it across 1000 stores including Vijay Sales, Croma, Reliance Digital, Jumbo, Spice Mobility, Poorvika, and Sangeetha Mobile. If you want to buy it online, head to Flipkart which has already started taking pre-orders for the device.
