HTC will reveal a new mid-range smartphone running Google Android operating system and is named as Primo.
The new HTC Primo smartphone will run a dual-core 1 GHz mobile processor and feature Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system. Most importantly, the handset will feature Beats by Dre Audio technology and branding. Stuff reported that the HTC Primo is expected to launch at the Mobile World Congress 2012 in Barcelona, Spain.
HTC Primo is set to be a mid-range device with 3.7-inch capacitive touchscreen Super AMOLED Display made using Gorilla Glass display technology. Apart from being strong and scratch resistant display, the Primo will house a dual-core 1 GHz Qualcomm mobile processor coupled with 512 MB RAM. This hardware is decent enough to run the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update with HTC Sense 4.0 UI update which is expected to arrive with the handset.
At the rear lies the 5 Megapixel camera that is capable recording 720p HD video. According to the report, the phone would not come with a front facing camera. However, that’s unlikely and we shall wait for the official details.
HTC will add the Beats by Dre audio technology to this smartphone which will also bundle a special pair of earphones. Once the pair of Beats by Dre earphones is plugged into the Primo’s 3.5mm audio port, the special pre-configured audio profiles are loaded to deliver best music experience with those earphones.
HTC Primo is expected to be available later this year for $389 (Rs 20,280 approximately). The price as well as availability may vary from region to region.
Notably, HTC is also expected to launch its Endeavour (HTC Edge) with quad-core mobile processor, Android 4.0 and 720p HD native Resolution supporting display at MWC 2012. HTC Endeavour will compete with the range of mid-range devices from Sony Xperia series and also from Samsung.
