HTC has announced a low cost quad core phone, called Desire 600. The phone will run on a 1.2 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 quad core processor, which is the latest Chipset from Qualcomm.
HTC Desire 600 is a dual SIM phone with 4.5 inch super LCD 2 display, latest Sense 5 user interface with HTC BlinkFeed and HTC BoomSound in place just like the flagship HTC One has. The phone will of course run on the latest Android 4.2 Jelly Bean at launch.
BlinkFeed brings a Windows Phone type tiled interface to Android and offers a customisable stream of live information from more than 1,400 media sources. BlinkFeed draws on more than 10,000 articles per day from some of the world’s leading media companies including the AOL media, ESPN, MTV, The Financial Times and Reuters.
In terms of the camera the phone will offer an 8 Megapixel rear and 1.6 megapixel front camera. The phone comes with several camera related features including auto 30 second showreel with sound.
HTC has put built-in amplifiers and has integrated Beats Audio technology in the phone for superior audio. The phone is priced at Rs 26,860 and is available on Saholic.com. At this price HTC Desire 600 competes with phones like Google Nexus 4 and LG Optimus 4X HD. And while it does get some of the best additional hardware and software like BlinkFeed, boom sound and built-in amplifier, Beats Audio etc, we still feel it is overpriced since its core hardware like 4.5 inch display and Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 chipset are not in the high end category. However, it will only become clear whether it’s worth the price or not once we test it.
