HTC Desire 540 (codename A17) to be launched alongside HTC Bolt (Evo)

As rumoured earlier, HTC Evo will be the name under which the phone lists in markets outside the US, where it has a tie-up with Sprint.

HTC Bolt (Evo) has moved to the top of the list of the smartphones rumoured to be coming from HTC. With the earlier leak suggesting that the device will be called HTC Evo (codenamed: Acadia) internationally, new reports suggest that HTC might launch another device alongside the Bolt or Evo on November 11. The device codenamed HTC Desire A17 might be unveiled as claimed by the developer of MaximusHD ROM, LlabTooFeR via Twitter.

“New HTC Desire phone is on track…Code-named is A17…It’s going to run 6.0.1 and Sense 8.0. It might be released with HTC Acadia.. .” – tweeted LlabTooFeR.

Interestingly, HTC Desire 530 smartphone was codenamed HTC A16 which indicates that this new device (HTC A17) might be the successor of Desire 530. There has been no information about the HTC A17’s specifications or design. But, we expect it to improve upon the Desire 530 which comes with a 5 inch 720p display, 1.1 GHz Quad-Core Snapdragon 210 chipset, Adreno 304 GPU, 1.5GB RAM, 16GB internal storage which is expandable up to 256GB via microSD card. Announced back in February 2016, the Desire 530 sports an 8 megapixel rear camera and 5 megapixel front camera. To power up the entire device, there is a 2200 battery. Thus, pushing for a mid-rage slot between Rs 10-Rs15,000.

Coming to the HTC Bolt (Evo) smartphone, the device will come with a design language which will be a lot similar to HTC 10 especially the front. Further, the device is expected to come with 5.5-inch 1080p display. It is likely to have an Octa-Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor with Adreno 430 GPU. This CPU and GPU will be coupled with 3GB RAM and 64GB internal storage. The device is also expected to feature HTC’s famous Boom Sound audio technology. In the camera department, it is likely to sport an 18-megapixel camera with f/2.0 aperture, 4K video support, dual-LED flash. On the front, it will feature an 8-megapixel shooter. For connectivity, HTC Bolt will feature a USB Type-C port which will also double up as headphones port. Yes, the device will not have a 3.5 mm headphone jack, at least as per recent reports. Apart from that, it will come with LTE, NFC, Bluetooth, and 802.11ac etc. The smartphone is also said to running Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box. The smartphone will comfortably slot in above Rs 25,000, with a possibilty of being closer to Rs 35,000.

In the US, the device will be sold via Sprint and elsewhere it will be sold unlocked with the name HTC Evo. Final price is still a mystery for both the devices and same is the case for availability in India.
