After joining the party last month with HTC 10, the company seems to lead the way as it has now rolled out the Android Nougat update for HTC One M9 as well. The news was first reported by Mo Versi, Vice President, Product Management at HTC. As mentioned above, the update has just been rolled out for the unlocked variant only with carrier variants soon to follow early next year. Further, the Nougat update still doesn’t bring Sense 8 for HTC One M9 which might be a bummer for those who were expecting it.
Last month, HTC released Android 7.0 Nougat update for it’s this year’s flagship HTC 10. Further, the Taiwanese handset manufacturer was the first one to release the list of devices which will definitely get the Nougat update. However, we wished it continued the same pattern in terms of releasing the update as well. The list had three phones – HTC 10, HTC One M9, HTC One A9, of which two devices has now tasted Android Nougat.
The company didn’t reveal if this is a global roll out or just limited to the United States. However, we suspect that the update will head to India soon as HTC only sells unlocked smartphones here.
Briefing about the features, Android 7.0 brings in the all new notification panel layout which enables users to reply directly from the notification. Further, we also get the multi-window support which lets you use two apps simultaneously. For the battery, Google has improved Doze and now allows a phone to go into the Doze mode even when the phone is in the pocket. A feature which has largely been under the shade is the ability to scale your display up or down by customizing the DPI (Dots Per Inch).
