Huawei’s online brand Honor has surpassed Xiaomi’s Mi brand globally to claim the title of the best online smartphone brand across the globe. As per a report by IDC in quarterone of 2017, Honor’s global shipment value was 2.5 billion USD as compared to Mi’s 1.9 billion USD.
Allen Wang, Director for Product Centre, Huawei India, said to The Mobile Indian, “ We have seen a strong acceptance of our Honor brand in China, India and Europe in the last 12 months. These three regions have helped in attaining the number 1 smartphone brand globally.”
He further claimed, “Huawei has surpassed Apple in terms of global sales volume and is just behind Samsung. Huawei had 13.2 percent of the handset market share globally in December 2016 as compared to 12 percent of Apple.”
Talking about Huawei’s strategy fo the Indian market and what can consumers expect from the company, Allen said, “Slow and steady wins the race and Huawei is not in the market to flood it with the devices. Going forward, Huawei will definitely launch more and more devices but it will more like one or two devices in each segment. Also, we will continue to further strengthen out after sales service.”
When we asked him about the gap between India and China launch he said, “ Yes there is gap right now but going forward we will try to significantly reduce the gap as both India and China are very important markets for us.”
