HMD Global launched the Nokia 2.2 last month at an event where many suspected the company would also introduce the Nokia 6.2. The company is now reportedly gearing up to launch another smartphone alongside the Nokia 6.2 and will likely name it the Nokia 7.2.
The news of an upcoming Nokia 7.2 has been shared by tipster Roland Quandt and NokiaPowerUser as well. NPU suggested that HMD’s retail chain believes the Nokia 7.2 is in the testing phase and it has readied prototypes of the upcoming Android One phone.
The publication also reports that the phone’s predecessor – the Nokia 7.1 has been discontinued across several markets in Europe. We checked whether it was true for the Indian market but interestingly, HMD Global is still selling the Nokia 7.1 in India for Rs 15,999.
Twitter tipster Roland Quandt revealed another detail about the Nokia 7.2. Quandt hinted that the Nokia 7.2 will have an identical external design to the upcoming Nokia 6.2 and will fit the same cases. However, keeping in mind both phones will be sold with different labels, we can expect changes in the internal configuration, even in the camera department.
It was earlier rumoured that the Nokia 6.2 will be branded Nokia X71 but it’s doubtful if that would be the case. However, in case this is true, we’re looking at a phone powered by a Snapdragon 660, 3,500mAh battery with 18W fast charging, Android 9 Pie and a hole-punch display. The X71 also featured a 48MP main + 8MP wide + 5MP depth triple camera setup and a 16MP ZEISS sensor on the front.
There’s no word on when the Nokia 7.2 will be released but with a similar design to the Nokia 6.2, we can expect both phones to be unveiled around the same time.
