Hero MotoCorp launches 2018 Super Splendor in India at Rs 57,190

The motorcycle comes with the Hero’s i3s technology, which was first spotted on the Hero Splendor iSmart bike

India’s largest two-wheeler manufacturer, Hero Motocorp has announced a new member to its Splendor family in the country. Dubbed as the 2018 Super Splendor, the motorcycle was first unveiled by the company last year, in December. The bike comes at a price tag of Rs 57,190 (ex-showroom, Delhi) and it features an all-new design language in five paint options – CB Red, Heavy Grey, Black with Fiery Red, Black with Electric Purple and Graphite Black.

Starting with the upgrades, the 2018 model gets a redesigned body with the dual-tone graphic for the side profile, new seat and tail light. Powered by a 124.7 cc displacement, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine, the machine produces 11.13 bhp of maximum power at 7500 rpm with 11 Nm of peak torque on 6500 rpm and mated to a 4-speed transmission.

Further, the motorcycle comes with the Hero’s i3s technology, which was first spotted on the Hero Splendor iSmart bike. For those who don’t know the i3S technology allows the system to automatically switch off the engine and switches back on when you simply press the clutch. In other words, when you stop the bike the i3S system puts the engine into hibernate or sleep mode.

Compared with the Hero Splendor Plus, the bike is longer, wider and taller. It measures 1,995 mm in length, 735 mm in width and 1,095 mm in height. The wheelbase of the bike is also increased by 35 mm at 1,265 mm, while the seat height is same of 785 mm. It weighs 125 kg (increased by 16 kg) and comes with a 13-litre fuel tank, with a milage of 83 kmpl.

The bike rides on the telescopic hydraulic shock absorbers on the front and swing arm with step adjustable hydraulic shock absorber at the rear. The bike is equipped with the 18-inch, 5-spokes alloy wheels and 130mm drum brakes on both the ends. The Splendor comes with the three dial analogue meter console, with speed, engine temperature, fuel and other indications.
