A couple of days back, Delhi based company Go Tech launched two tablets – Fonetab and Funtab Fusion. We have already carried the first hand review of the Fusion tablet.
Now, here is first experience of Fonetab which has a SIM slot that makes voice calling from the tablet possible.

Specifications and price
It is the first tablet from Go Tech which has a SIM slot and is priced at Rs 6,999 and will be available from online stores like Flipkart, Letsbuy and so on from the first week of June.
Apart from SIM connectivity, Fonetab supports WiFi and 3G (accessible through data card). It has a 7 inch resistive touchscreen with a screen resolution of has 800 x 480 in a 16:9 aspect ratio.
Fonetab runs Android 2.2 operating system. It has an 800 MHz processor and 512 MB of RAM. The tablet has a 3600 mAh battery and 4 GB Internal Memory and supports USB and Mini USB that can be used to connect data card. The tablet though has no Bluetooth. On the camera front it has a front facing VGA camera.
Funtab Fusion 7 will come with a smart case, headphone, and charger.

Look and feel
It has a plastic body and looks quite flashy in the glossy finishing. Like Fusion, Fonetab has three physical buttons – one on the front panel which takes you the home screen, one on side panel for power on and off which doubles up as a screen lock button; and another one on the side panel which is a volume rocker button.
If you love taking photographs, you will not be impressed with the photo quality taken with this device’s camera.

Performance
The device which we got for reviewing had decent response to touch but if it is improved, it will give better satisfaction to its users. Unlike Fusion, Fonetab provides better response to swipe and scroll gestures.
It has full USB port that can connect to pen drive and data card, but the catch is the tablet contains a list which mention the models of data cards it supports so you must check out your data card model before buying this else you have to purchase one from the list.

Conclusion
Fonetab is a decent device for the first time tablet users and the SIM functionality is an asset for data connectivity. Overall, the device offers nothing new as compared to other low cost tablets available in the market.
We will be able to write in detail about how the tablets perform different activities and of course its battery life after doing a full-fledged review. Stay tuned.
