Rockstar Games is celebrating the 10th Anniversary of the open epic game — Grand Theft Auto III, and on the occasion has promised to release the title for iOS and Android platforms. Grand Theft Auto III will support only some new devices running the latest iOS and Android updates. Rockstar will release the game in a couple of weeks.
Grand Theft Auto III is an immensely popular open world game. GTA III was the first full 3D game in the Grand Theft Auto series and promises decent sandbox-style action on touchscreen devices.
Rockstar has said that Grand Theft Auto III will work on the latest iPad 2 and iPhone 4S that has enough memory (RAM) and graphics power to handle the game’s 3D graphics. The list of compatible Android smartphones includes Motorola Droid X2, LG Optimus 2X, Motorola Atrix, Samsung Galaxy S II and HTC EVO 2. Even Android Honeycomb based Motorola Xoom, Asus Eee Pad, Acer Iconia, and Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 tablets will support the game.
The compatible devices are all high-end with great hardware. Support for more devices will be enabled in due course of time.
Rockstar’s plan is to bring old/retro games to mobile platforms.
