Google has started replacing Voice Match function with a new Assistant lock screen feature on its Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL. The new feature will be rolled out all Android devices pretty soon.
The company is removing the Voice Match function as the brand feels that it is not a secure form of authentication. The company is replacing this feature with Google Assistant lock screen access, which will display personal results like email and calendar entries.
As per the report by 9to5Google, users can now interact with it in verbal or visual card form. Users do not require to enter a pin, Password or fingerprint sensor to interact with the Assistant interface on the lock screen. There is a full list of responses includes Emails, flight reservations and bills, Google Calendar, Contacts, Reminders, memory aids, shopping lists and more. Users can simply ask, ”Okay Google, check the weather,” and they will see the card.
The new update is rolling out via server-side update, but it is already spotted on Google App with version number 9.27. Previously, Google revealed that it has built a prototype that integrates the AI used in Google News and ports it to the Google Assistant. This means Google Assistant will soon offer users a playlist of audio news put together in a similar fashion as that of Google News.
