Google has finally made the Sound Search widget available in the Play Store for the Android 4.0 or higher version running devices. The Sound Search widget will let you search for the song that is being played around you. The Android developers created this widget to work for select regions and currently it does not work in India.ÂÂ
Google has released its Sound Search widget for the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich or higher running devices. Sound Search widget is very similar to the existing applications such as SoundHound and Shazaam. Both applications are distinct yet perform the same function – identification of a music track playing.ÂÂ
The Google Sound Search widget is currently available only in the USA. On using the Sound Search widget, it scouts for the sound and even shows the links to the Google Play Music store. This Sound Search widget can identify songs from the home screen and even lockscreen for the Android 4.2 Jelly Bean running devices.ÂÂ
Google has given an interesting codename to its Sound Search widget – ears. Hopefully in future this widget will be able to search for a movie or TV show based on a dialogue being voice-acted or aired on the Radio.
The Google Sound Search widget is already listed at the Google Play store.
