Google has started rolling out a pepped up search interface for the Android 3.1+ Honeycomb and Apple iPad tablets with support for 36 languages currently.
Google has already spruced up the search layout and interface for the Android in last two months for different mobile platforms. Google is in process of rolling out the new interface and would be visible to tablet users across the globe in coming months.
The new Google interface for tablets brings a Search Button that offers a drop down menu options to search for specific types — images, videos, places, shopping, etc. The tab next to it will let users choose the specific time frame for the search results — Any Time, 24 Hours, Week, Month or Year.
This new interface clearly resembles the neater and cleaner look that is expected to be rolled out for Gmail. Currently it is available through the Preview (Dense) Theme from the Settings>Themes in Gmail.
Google is aiming to provide more cleaner and uniform interface for its products across all three platforms — mobile, tablet and desktop. Of course, it will take a while for users worldwide to receive the updated interface and get used to it.
