This year as we know, Google is likely to dump the name Nexus for its devices. Instead the phones would now be names Pixel and Pixel XL. Further, these devices are likely to come with 7.1 which will be a minor update to earlier released Android 7.0 Nougat.

October is actually not a bad time to release a smartphone with holiday season coming up in coming months. However, Google has to make sure that it has enough stock unlike Apple. After iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus was released last week, most of the stores were already out of stock within hours. Moreover, this time around iPhone 7 Plus is trending more than the regular variant mainly because of the improved dual-camera. Also, People seem to be loving the two new colour variants i.e. the Jet Black and Matte Black.

In the other news, it seems that just before the launch Google Pixel smartphones have been leaked in a Nest ad. Nest is currently showing a TV commercial in Netherlands in which it actually reveals Google Pixel handsets. However, the design apparently seems to be a dummy but the overall design language is pretty clear from the render leaked in the commercial.

Also, a couple of images have also been leaked showing a closer look at the possible Pixel devices ergonomics. The barcode and branding has been blurred of entirely. Further, it is quite evident from the leaked images that while the lower section of the device seems to be metal the upper half does seem to have a glass plate. And given the devices are made by HTC these renders somewhat resembles HTC One A9 especially from the bottom.

Also coming to the front renders, it seems that there is another button at below the screen which might be a standalone Google Assistant button. Nevertheless, it seems that Google is coming up with quite a few exciting things with this year’s Nexus (now Pixel) devices. As far as pricing is concerned, the Pixel XL is tipped to be priced at $649 and there hasn’t been any information about the smaller Pixel device. Let’s wait for October 4 to come and see what Google has in store for this year’s flagship line up.
