Google Pixel, Pixel XL users are now facing data backup issues

Multiple users are complaining that their devices are not able to backup data.

It seems Google Pixel and Pixel XL has caught another bug and this time it is related to backups. Multiple users are complaining that their devices are not able to backup data.

Google Pixel and Pixel XL users are not able to backup data like SMS, call history, applications and so on. Every time they try to do so, there is a ‘Waiting to backup’ status which is never updated. Interestingly, this is not a new problem, as users have been complaining since the Pixel and Pixel XL were released.

“Just got my Pixel and I am having the same issue as the others. In the Backup and Reset the only things that have sync’d are Calendar and Contacts. The rest of the items say ‘Waiting to backup’,” one user reported. Meanwhile, Google has acknowledged the bug and is currently working on a fix. In the meantime, you can go to Settings> Backup and Reset > Backup, to check there whether your device is facing this issue or not. We also advise you to opt for different backup options in order to keep your data safe and updated.

This is not the first time Google Pixel and Google Pixel XL are marred with bugs. Recently, the latest Android 7.1.2 update made the fingerprint scanner useless. Some users were reporting that after the update, their fingerprint sensor has stopped working. Not only this, Pixel and Pixel XL owners also faced a issue, through which their smartphone was suddenly losing Bluetooth connectivity. The device used to disconnect automatically and repeatedly after which users brought this issue to the Google forums.

Apart from this, users also reported a new camera freeze issue. A thread started by one of the users on community forums, the camera on Pixel and Pixel XL freezes with pink/purple vertical lines. The issue has taken place often enough, if not all the time, to make it a major issue.
