At the Made by Google event in New York, Google has announced the Google Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL smartphones, as expected. The Google Pixel 4 comes with a starting price tag of $799 andPixel 4 XL for $899. The phones will ship on October 24, globally. Pixel 4 comes in three colors, including Clearly White, Just Black, and a limited edition, Oh So Orange.
The major highlight of the new smartphones are the new Motion Sense, which usesnew motion-sensing Soli radar chipwhich will function alongside two face unlock IR cameras, one Face unlock dot projector, one face unlock flood illuminator and an ambient light/ proximity sensor. The company says that the radar data can be turned on or off and all the processing happens on the phone. The Pixel 4 series comes with new enhanced Google Assistant with conversational style along with a new voice recoder application that provide real-time transcription, meaning that users can read back what was said. This also happens on device ensuring the privacy of the users.
Google Pixel 4 will feature a 5.7-inch Full HD+ Smooth 90Hz Display with Ambient EQ. The Pixel 4 XL, on the other hand, comes with a 6.3-inch Quad HD+ Smooth 90Hz display and Ambient EQ. As for specifications, both devices are powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 Chipset with Pixel Neural Core technology, 6GB of RAM and 64/128GB of storage.
The Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL come with dual cameras at the back conomprising of a 12MP Dual-Pixel sensor and a 16MP telephoto camera. The front of the phone will also come with a dual-camera setup that has an 8MP primary and 5MP ultra-wide camera.
Google’s new Pixel 4 series will run on Android 10 with the new Gesture Navigation system, advanced system-wide Dark mode, suggested Smart Reply actions, Live Caption, Limited Location sharing permissions, Parental controls and Focus mode. Google will offer up to 3 years of security and OS updates to both phones.
Pixel 4 is backed by a 2800mAh battery while the Pixel 4 XL is fuelled by a 3700mAh power unit. Both phones support 18W Fast charging through a USB-C power adapter. Both devices come integrated with a Titan M Security Module, motion sensing, Face Unlock and stereo speakers.
