Google has announced that its latest flagship devices, Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL will get three years of major OS updates. Not only this, both the devices will receive all the security updates for three years as well.
The company has updated its Support page, where it has mentioned that the Google Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL will receive Android version updates until October 2020 and same is the case with the security updates. For your reference, the original Pixel and Pixel XL will get major OS and security updates until October 2018 and October 2019 respectively.
Interestingly, this is the first time any manufacturer has promised the OS and security update for such a long duration. It is a well-known fact that the biggest problem with Android smartphones is the lack of software updates. Even big companies like Samsung, LG and more takes a hefty amount of time to roll out the major update, once it is made official by Google. However, it seems that Google is trying to be different this time and has promised to give both Android version and security updates for the latest Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL.
To recall, Google, during its Made by Google event, announced that India will be one of the first countries that will receive the latest Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL smartphones. The Google Pixel 2 6GB variant will come with a price tag of Rs 61,000, while the 128GB variant will be priced at Rs 70,000. The Google Pixel 2 will be available from select retail stores and online platforms starting from November 01, 2017.

Google Pixel 2 XL, on the other hand, comes with a price tag of Rs 73,000 for the 64GB variant, while the 128GB variant comes with a price tag of Rs 82,000. The Pixel 2 XL will be available for sales in 1000+ stores and online starting November 15, 2017. Both the smartphones will be exclusively available from Flipkart.
