Google is adding more ads to Google Discover on Android

Google Search on Android phones will soon display gallery ads showing multiple images for users to swipe through. Users will first start seeing these types of ads inside Google’s discover feed which can be accessed with as little as a left swipe on the home screen of some Android phones.

In a not so surprising move, Google has announced two new types of advertising through Google Ads. The addition of new ad types means phones will soon be home to more ads from Google which will appear inside Google Discover.

As part of the development, Google Search on Android phones will soon display gallery ads showing multiple images for users to swipe through. Users will first start seeing these types of ads inside Google’s discover feed which can be accessed with as little as a left swipe on the home screen of some Android phones.

Despite Google only adding the ads to the Discover section, the new ads will also be accessible inside the Google on phones and the Google homepage when accessed in mobile format. There’s also a possibility that users will see more ads inside Gmail’s Promotion and Social tabs as well as on Youtube.

The ads visible on Google Discover will be marked with a green “ad” icon to help users differentiate the ad from regular content.

In addition to that, Google is also adding Showcase Shopping ads to Images section on Search. This means there will be new ads with more visual content that will be relevant to a user’s search result.

While the addition of more advertisements means more hindrance to user experience on phones, it’s not surprising that Google is developing more tools to benefit its own revenue through them. After all, advertising is clearly Google’s bread and butter and the Mountain View company will do anything to keep that around.
