Yesterday Gionee issued a teaser revealing the launch of Gionee S6s on August 22 but as expected, it did not reveal its price. But today TMI was told by an e-retailer that the phone will cost Rs 17,999.
Onlymobiles.com told TMI that it will start taking pre-orders for the phone from August 20 and will ship from August 21. It said that initially only the gold colour variant will be available but later on other colour models will be added.
Note that the Gione S6s was unveiled in Vietnam earlier this year in Gold, Rose Gold, and Silver colours. But in Vietnam it was launched at just 4,490,000 Vietnamese Dong (approximately Rs 13,500).
The phone has a metal unibody with a 5.5-inch full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) display. The phone has 1.3 GHz octa-core Mediatek (MT6753) processor, Mali T-720 GPU and 3GB RAM. There is 32GB of internal storage, a 128 GB micro SD card slot and Android 6.0 Marshmallow operating system with Amigo 3.2 UI in the Gionee S6s.
The S6s comes packed with a 3150 mAh non-removable battery and also houses a fingerprint scanner on the back panel. On the camera front, the smartphone has a 13-megapixel shooter with LED Flash, and PDAF on the back. On the front, it has an 8-megapixel front-facing camera with LED flash for selfies and video calling. Besides, the device offers Hybrid Dual SIM, 4G LTE, WiFi (802.11 b/g/n), Bluetooth 4.0, GPS/AGPS, and a micro USP port.
