China based smartphone brand, Gionee had announced its new flagship smartphone, named as E-Life E6, earlier this month and while the device has not yet been made available in India, we got a chance to have a close look of the new flagship phone of Gionee at its office in Shenzhen, China.
The Gionee Elife E6 is available in two colours – matte black and glossy white. Gionee is also planning a range of accessories for the device and will be making them available shortly.
Here is our first impression of the Gionee Elife E6.

Look and feel:
Gionee Elife E6 seems to have incorporated best design elements of all contemporary popular smartphones. The smartphone is sleek and lightweight with 7.7 mm thickness. This has been made possible with the use of one glass solution for the display. In this as compared to the conventional two layer glass technology where the display and Touch surfaces used to be different, here only one surface is employed for both the jobs, offering better pictures and slim profile as well.
The Elife E6 has a 2.5 mm narrow bezel that further makes the device look sleek. It has also just 128 grams weight despite the fact that the phone has a 2020 mAh battery. The overall design is good but the placement of power key at the top in this big 5 inch device is a bit odd that makes it difficult to reach out.
The volume rocker keys have been though comfortably placed on the right hand side while on the left hand side lies the micro SIM slot. The phone however misses out on a memory card slot but not to worry as the phone comes with huge 31 GB of internal storage. At the bottom, the Elife E6 has loudspeaker and two microphones for better noise cancellation.

Other Features
The Gionee Elife E6’s 5 inch screen comes with full high definition (1920 x 1080 pixel) resolution. The contrast levels are really high and the color vibrancy of the display is good too. The touch screen offers accurate and effortless touch experience. It also comes with gesture and hover touch technology so all you need to do is put the phone next to ear to answer calls or just wave your hand over the display to disconnect or answer a call.
The Gionee E-Life E6 is powered by a 1.5 GHz quad-core Processor from Mediatek and comes with a dedicated graphics processor. The smartphone also has 2 GB RAM and 31 GB of onboard storage.
The Gionee Elife E6 comes with a 13 Megapixel rear camera with BIS (Backside illumination technology) sensor and a 5 megapixel front-facing camera. Gionee also claims that it has modified Android ROM software to allow users quickly and easily capture high quality images and videos, we will be commenting about the same in the detailed review.

Another innovation that Gionee has adopted for the Elife E6 is its flat bottom, this allows the device to be easily made to stand on a flat surface allowing for easy timer based shots Gionee Elife E6 has DTS 3D stereo surround with speakers placed on the lower side of the phone instead at the back for better sound output.
The handset also gets noise cancellation feature which is done through three microphones instead of two that is commonly seen on most smartphones today. The Gionee Elife E6 has Google Android 4.2 Jelly Bean operating system on top of which lies a customised user interface called as Amigo.

Conclusion:
The use interface has similarities with its older versions in terms of look and feel. Functionality wise, the Gionee Elife E6 looks good but how well will it performs, can only be judged in a thorough review, for which keep checking The Mobile Indian.
