Precisely two months after launching it globally, Garmin has now announced the Garmin Instinct in India – a rugged smartwatch built for outdoor activities and extreme adventures. The Garmin smartwatch will be available for an asking price of Rs 26,990 at Paytm Mall, Amazon India and Garmin Store.
The Instinct features a 0.9-inch circular Monochrome two-window display with screen Resolution of 128 x 128 pixels. The screen is transflective and can be viewed under bright sunlight with ease with the front lens made of chemically strengthened glass surrounded by fibre-reinforced polymer. The smartwatch is certified with military-grade 810G standard and is thus thermal, water (up to 10 ATM) and shock resistant.
For location, the Garmin watch comes with a barometric altimeter, a 3-axis compass and multiple global navigation satellite systems including GPS, GLONASS and Galileo, allowing the watch to track a user’s location in the most remote locations. The Garmin TracBack feature gives users a rough projection of the route they travelled in so they can navigate back to the starting point with ease.
There’s an included heart rate sensor which monitors your health, recent activities, sleep cycle and stress through the inbuilt functions. There are also a bunch of sports modes available as apps. The Garmin Instinct can be paired with a phone with smartphones running on Android or iOS with features like ‘Smart Reply’ exclusively available on Android. It’ll be able to receive notifications from your smartphone but lacks NFC, meaning you won’t be able to make contactless payments through the watch.
Garmin says the Instinct will be able to last to up to 14 days in smartwatch mode with up to 16 hours in GPS. Users can also use the smartwatch in UltraTrac mode that switches on GPS only periodically in order to save some juice.
The Garmin Instinct smartwatch is available in Tundra, Graphite and Flame Red for an asking price of Rs 26,990 at Paytm Mall, Amazon India and Garmin Store in India.
