Flipkart has announced the rollout of a new Videos service to its e-commerce platform. The new platform is available for users on the Android application as of now and there are no reports whether it is available for iOS devices.
The company has added a dedicated section on its Flipkart application and it provides content from players like Arre, Dice Media, TVF and Voot. The company has revealed that it will not offer original content initially, though it might look into it. The company has further revealed that the new Video service will be available for free for its users.
In order to use this service, users need to download the latest Flipkart application from the Google Play Store (version 6.17). Once the App is updated to the latest version, one can access the service by going to the hamburger menu from the top-left corner of the app and click on the Videos section.
The app will then ask the users to pick at least three videos from a list, which will allow users to experience personalised content according to a customer need. The app then shows the curated content of movies and TV shows. The Videos section also features an option to follow certain channels or actors to all their latest videos. Then there is My List option that let users save their favourite shows or movies and one can also share them right from the application.
The app also allows users to adjust the video quality by selecting different modes including Auto, Good and Data Saver. The playback offers an option to switch to next episode and there are different buttons to skip the content 10 seconds forward or backwards.
Flipkart has also introduced a new Flipkart Ideas feature on its e-commerce platform in India. Flipkart Ideas will offer a curated selection of content to make shopping easier for customers and guiding them through their purchases.
Flipkart Ideas can be accessed from the hamburger menu on the left side of Flipkart’s app home screen tapping which users can select the type of content they might need guidance with. Users can choose from Gadgets, fashion, pets, parenting, travel, movies and music, self-improvement, arts and crafts, home and living, health and food.
