Facebook had introduced the standalone Facebook Messenger App for iOS and Android platforms in August 2011. The Facebook Messenger recently went through a major design overhaul and has now being made available on third prominent mobile platform – Windows Phone.
Facebook Messenger for Windows Phone 8 devices opens doors for the Facebook users to connect with their friends and chat with them. Facebook Messenger is now available for all Windows Phone 8 devices from the Windows Phone Store.
The Facebook Messenger acts as a stand alone instant Messaging app to communicate with Facebook contacts. On the Windows Phone 8 platform, using Facebook Messenger one can share stickers, photos and their locations with their friends. One can even d create groups for a group chat.
Facebook Messenger has also implemented the feature that lets user see if the sent message has been seen by the recipient. Facebook Messenger requires the user to be logged in all the time.
The users who quickly managed to install the Facebook Messenger complained about the duplicate notifications from both Facebook app and Facebook Messenger. Apparently, one can always turn off the notifications to check the messages together at convenience. Facebook has also integrated the capability to see whether the contact is online on Facebook or Facebook Messenger.
