Facebook for Android push notification via BlackBerry workaround

After logging onto the Facebook BlackBerry app, the push notification feature in Facebook for Android is automatically enabled.

A workaround has been discovered that enables the feature on the Facebook Android App after using the social networking app meant for RIM BlackBerry handsets.

Facebook for Android did face some issues with push notifications in the past and no updates provided a fix for it. Android Central Forum member ccw1134 discovered that by logging onto Facebook from BlackBerry and then simply re-installing Facebook for Android enables push notifications on Android.

Popular social network Facebook offers applications on every possible mobile platform but its push notifications seem to work flawlessly on Apple and RIM BlackBerry platforms. Surprisingly, the same push notifications seem to be broken on Google Android devices. Call it a business rivalry or technical glitch, but no update has been released to fix that.

Now, a simple workaround does the job.

The workaround is a blessing for Android users. To enable push notifications, Facebook users simply need to log into the Facebook for BlackBerry App and then log out of it. Check the Application Settings of your Facebook account from your desktop web to see whether the Facebook for BlackBerry app appears in that list.

Once the Facebook for BlackBerry smartphone app listing appears under your profile, all you have to do is log out and log back in to the Facebook App for Google Android devices. We have tested this solution on a few devices and it works flawlessly on most.
