Not many tariff related announcements were made during this October by telecom operators in India. Nonetheless, RCom, Vodafone and Airtel did introduce some interesting plans for their subscribers.
Here is a look at two plans of RCom and one each of Vodafone and Airtel.

All Share postpaid plan – RCom
Reliance Communications in the first week of October had launched a new postpaid plan called All Share Postpaid Plan, for its GSM and CDMA customers in the country.
All Share Postpaid Plan comes with a rental of Rs 1,497 for three connections such that they can share 3000 minutes of local and STD voice calls and 3000 local and national SMSs along with 3 GB of 3G data per month. Along with this, the three connections will also benefit from unlimited free local calls within the group.
The number of connections in the family or group can be increased up to 10 at an incremental rental of Rs 499 per additional connection with benefits of 1000 minutes of local and STD voice calls, 1000 local and national SMSs and 1 GB of 3G data.
The All Share Postpaid Plan from Reliance Communications is available for all new and existing postpaid subscribers.

Unlimited 2G data for Rs 149 – Airtel
A couple of weeks back Airtel launched an unlimited internet offer for its 2G prepaid mobile customers across India.
Priced at Rs 149, this pack offers 2 GB of 2G data for a month, beyond which the internet speed is limited to 40 Kbps. A similar pack was earlier priced at Rs 99, but was discontinued.
The pack can be availed by both new and existing subscribers. Pricing, however, will vary slightly due to local taxes etc from circle to circle (state to state).
With improvements in data technology even for 2G services, like the emergence of Edge, data speeds have improved and therefore such a plan is good for protecting unsuspecting customers from bill shock when they exceed the data limit of a plan. (In 2G you usually pay Rs 10 per MB of data used beyond the free usage that a pack offers).

Unlimited WhatsApp and Facebook access – RCom
This month Reliance Communications announced another offer for its prepaid users in India. Under the new plans Reliance prepaid subscribers will get unlimited access to WhatsApp and Facebook for Rs 16 per month, but without any more data charges on using either of the services. Once subscribed, the WhatsApp plan automatically gets renewed every month unless the user chooses to unsubscribe.
Reliance’s new WhatsApp plan aims to offer unlimited access to WhatsApp and Facebook for Rs 16 per month, which equates to Rs 192 gross for a year. For that amount, users can access and use both WhatsApp and Facebook without having to pay anything extra for services.

Unlimited Roaming data plans for Saudi Arabia and Japan – Vodafone.
Vodafone India, in association with Softbank’s network, had announced three new unlimited roaming data plans for its consumers who are visiting Saudi Arabia and Japan.
The new plans are available with validity options of three, five and seven days and are priced at Rs 1,499, Rs 2,499 and Rs 3,499 respectively. These plans will only be available if the consumers choose Softbank as service providers while roaming, and if they don’t do so they will be charged Rs 5.50 per 10 KB data used.
The plan is available only for Vodafone postpaid customers in India. To activate the service customers send an SMS ACT (space)ULJPN3/5/7 (for Japan) and ACT (space)ULSAU3/5/7 (for Saudi Arabia). Here the number 3/5/7 stands for validity and the customer should type only the number of days he/she needs the service for: for example, number ‘3’ for three days’ validity. The SMS has to be sent to the toll free number 111 from Vodafone India’s home network. The rental charge for the plan chosen by the customer will feature in the billing cycle.
