Epson introduces S-series signage printers with precision core printhead techonolgy

The S-series comes in 3 64-inch variants: S40670, S60670, S80670.

Yesterday, Epson announced the launch of its next-gen Surecolor S-series printers. Epson claims that these print delivers high performance and are roll-to-roll eco-solvent printers. The Surecolor S-series is powered by Epson’s own PrecisionCore print head technology, and is the company’s most advanced signage printer to date which helps in producing photographic quality images for the signage, vehicle graphics and fine art reproduction markets.

The S-series comes in 3 64-inch variants – S40670, S60670, S80670 – all of which incorporate the all new fourth generation Epson UltraChrome GS3 ink, that enables reduce ink consumption making it 10% to 15% more efficient in printing compared to previous generation models. The ink also comes with improved vibrancy and wider colour gamut as well as improved dying times extended outdoor durability, reducing total cost of ownership. The S80670 also incorporates a new red solvent ink for an expanded colour gamut and optional metallic ink, optional white ink for higher opacity to reduce ink sedimentation and dryout. All the inks come in 700 ml ink cartridges which maximise profitability and avoid production downtimes.

Coming to the printhead, the new SureColor S-series is powered by Epson’s advanced PrecisionCore Thin Film Piezo printhead which ensures enhanced performance, image quality and is extremely reliable. Furthermore, S-series is basically designed in such a way that it is suitable for high-speed production printing on a wide range of both coated and uncoated surfaces. It also comes with all new precision media feeding system for significantly faster speeds compared to previous variants. The TFP technology uses precisely controlled mechanical force to eject ink allowing better efficiency and optimum results, Claims Company.

To add to this, Epson has also incorporated its Precision Dot technology and new Micro Weave technology deliver output with minimal banding even when producing at fast print speeds. To ensure consistent media feed and unattended roll-to-roll printing, the S-series sports a newly developed sensor-based precision media feeding system that automatically controls the media tension and motor strength. For this, 40 individual rollers with 5 independent pinch rollers and a sharp media path are there ensuring tight and accurately finished rolls. It also comes with hardware enhancements providing more resistance to head strikes.

Maintenance and Operations are simple due to automatic media alignment and setup which allows faster switching between media types. There is also no need for manual printhead maintenance with the inclusion of newly developed fabric printhead wiper system. Moreover, Air circulation makes sure that printhead is clean ensuring high production capacity.
