Soon after the launch of Ducati Monster 821, the Italian manufacturer, has now introduced the 2018 Multistrada 1260 adventure-tourer in India. The motorbike comes with at a price tag of Rs 15.99 lakh (ex-showroom) for the base variant, while the 1260 S will sell for Rs 18.06 Lakh (ex-showroom).
Rivalling the BMW R 1200 GS, the machine will be equipped with a new 1,262cc displacement, liquid-cooled, L-Twin DVT (Desmodromic Variable Timing) engine. It will be capable of generating maximum power of 160 PS at 9500 rpm, and peak torque of 129.5 Nm at 7500 rpm which is 1.5 Nm more than the previous engine.
It is worth noting that the DVT combines variable timing with desmo valve actuation which delivers an ideal combination of horsepower. In simple words, one can achieve a great acceleration in low RPMs as well.
The 2018 edition comes with the Ducati Quick Shift (DQS) up/down, an electronic system derived from racing that makes it possible to change gears without the use of the clutch. It rides on the 48mm upside down forks at the front and a mono-shock unit by Sachs at the rear, both the Shockers are fully adjustable.
For a better confident riding with the pillion or even with luggage, the Ducati has increased the machines wheelbase (1,585mm), up by 56mm compared to the previous generation. In terms of safety, the new electronics package that includes Ducati Safety Pack and Ducati Traction Control, both of which have adjustable intervention levels and four riding modes – Urban, Touring, Enduro and Sport.
