After making its mark in the drone industry, DJI has announced its entry to the action camera game with the launch of the DJI Osmo Action Camera. The Osmo Action is a rugged compact shooter with dual-screen technology to take on Go Pro’s action cameras and will be available for an asking price of $349 (approx. Rs 24,500).
The Osmo Action features a 1/2.3-inch sensor which will be able to capture 12-megapixel photos and recording videos at 4K and 4K HDR. The camera can shoot videos in 4K at up to 60 frames per second and in HDR at up to 30 frames per second. The DJI camera will have slow motion capability at 240fps which can be captured in Full HD or HD resolutions.
Built with DJI’s new RockSteady technology, the Osmo Action offers electronic image stabilisation which will work at 4K Resolution with the highest frame rate.
There are two screens on the Osmo with a 2.25-inch touchscreen on the back and a 1.4-inch screen on the front, the latter offering 800nits bright panel for use under direct sunlight. Being an action camera, the Osmo provides used with a casing that is dustproof, shockproof up to 5ft and waterproof down to 36ft.
There’s a Quick Switch physical button for toggle between picture, video, time-lapse and slow-motion modes. The same switch can be used to select which screen to use as well. There are two microphones which will record audio as well as assist in voice control. The camera can be paired to the DJI Mimo App on phones through Bluetooth or WiFi.
Accessories include Camera Frame Kit mount, a waterproof case, a 3.5mm microphone adapter, extension rod, floating handle and a charging hub.
