In the last few weeks, fewer devices were launched in India. But with festive season approaching, companies are announcing and launching new phones.
This week got off to a flying start with Motorola and Samsung launching their affordable devices in the Indian market. A much awaited Xiaomi devices also made its debut in India this week. Though no high end smartphones were launched, many budget devices were launched. Lenovo also launched one of its flagship phone in India.
So let’s check out which are the devices that got launched this week.
This was the costliest phone of this week. The Lenovo Z2 Plus comes in two variants – one with 3 GB RAM and 32 GB of internal memory at Rs 17,999 while another has 4 GB RAM and 64 GB of storage at Rs 19,999.
The Lenovo Z2 Plus has a 5-inch display with full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) resolution. It is powered by the 2.15 quad-core Snapdragon 820 processor and Adreno 530 GPU. Neither of the two versions have any expandable storage slot which might be its big drawback.
The smartphone runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow operating system and is backed up by a 3,500 mAh battery. With Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 technology, it promises faster charging as well. The device also has a fingerprint sensor that is embedded on the home button which, as per the company, can unlock the phone in under 0.1 seconds.
The Lenovo Z2 Plus comes with a 13-megapixel shooter on the back with LED flash, f/2.2 Aperture and an 8-megapixel selfie camera. On the connectivity front, the device offers Dual SIM, 4G LTE with VoLTE, WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS, and USB Type C. The handset measures 141.65 x 68.88 x 8.45 mm and weighs 149 grams.
Previous week, Motorola brought the Moto G4 Play and this week it further bolstered its line up with this Rs 7,999 phone. The Moto E3 Power comes with smudge proof screen and water repellent nano coating. It features a 5-inch HD (1280x720p) IPS display and is powered by a 1.0GHz quad-core Mediatek (MTK6735) processor. It comes with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage, which can be further expandable up-to 128GB via micro SD card. The smartphone comes packed with 3500 mAh battery.
The Moto E3 Power runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow operating system. The phone has an 8-megapixel auto-focus rear camera, a rear LED flashlight and a 5-megapixel front camera for selfies and video chats. Besides, the smartphone offers Dual SIM, 4G/LTE, WiFi, GPS, a Micro USB port, and a Rear ported speaker (1W).
With Android Marshmallow and a big 3500 mAh battery, the Moto E Power will be a strong contender in the sub-Rs 10,000 segment which is crowded with phones of many brands including Xiaomi, Lenovo, Micromax, LYF, Coolpad, Lava, LeEco etc.
Samsung Galaxy J5 Prime, J7 Prime
The Galaxy J7 Prime is priced at Rs 18,790 while the J5 Prime will be available for by the end of this month for Rs 14,790. Both smartphones come in Gold and Black color options.
Both Samsung J7 Prime and J5 Prime have S Power planning and S Secure features. The S Power planning mode extends battery life and the S Secure feature allow users to hide and lock applications, secure WiFi and create a separate Secure folder for images and applications.
The Samsung Galaxy J7 Prime has a metal body and a 5.5-inch 2.5D glass display that comes with 1920×1080 pixels Resolution and Gorilla Glass 4. It is powered by a 1.6 GHz octa-core processor, which is paired with 3GB RAM and 16GB internal storage. An expandable storage slot is there for a micro SD card of up-to 256 GB capacity. The smartphone runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow operating system and also offers a fingerprint scanner, which is integrated on the home button.
The Galaxy J7 Prime has a 3300 mAh battery and comes with S Bike mode. To activate S Bike mode, all you have to do is attach an NFC tag, which comes bundled with the phone, with your bike (like on the petrol tank). Just before getting on your bike, the user just needs to tap the phone with the NFC tag that will turn on the S Bike mode. Once activated, callers will hear a message that the person is riding and they can leave messages.
The smartphone offers a 13-megapixel rear camera. There is an LED flash in the back panel as well. The rear camera has f/1.9 aperture. For selfies and video calls, the phone offers an 8-megapixel front-facing camera with aperture f/1.9 and wide angle lens. Further, the smartphone offers Dual SIM, 4G, WiFi (b/g/n), Bluetooth 4.1, GPS/Glonass, and a micro USB port. The handset measures 151.7 x 75.0 x 8.0mm and weighs 167 grams.

The Galaxy J5 Prime comes with 16GB of internal memory, which can be further expandable up to 256GB via a micro SD card. The smartphone runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow operating system and is backed by a 2,400 mAh battery.
On the camera front, Galaxy J5 Prime flaunts a 13-megapixel rear camera with f/1.9 aperture and an LED flash, and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera with f/2.2 aperture for selfies and video chats. The smartphone also has a fingerprint sensor that is integrated into its home button. Besides, the smartphone offers Dual-SIM slots, 4G with VoLTE support, WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS, and a micro USB port.
Micromax Q326 Plus
We found this phone on an e-retailer’s website at Rs 4,999. The Micromax Q326 Plus smartphone comes in Grey and Champagne color.
The Micromax Q326 Plus features a 4-inch WVGA (480 X 800 pixels) display that has Corning Gorilla Glass protection as well. It is powered by a 1.3 GHz quad-core processor, which is clubbed with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage. This smartphone runs on Android 5.0 Lollipop operating system.
The Micromax Q326 Plus comes packed with 1400 mAh removable battery, which claims to offer talk-time of up to 4 hours. The smartphone has s 5-megapixel primary camera with LED flash light and a 0.3-megapixel (VGA resolution) front-facing camera. Besides, the device offers 3G, Bluetooth, a Micro USB port, and WiFi (802.11 b/g/n). The handset weighs 270 grams.
Bingo C6
Bingo Technologies, which primarily makes consumer electronics accessories, launch its latest smartwatch – Bingo C6, this week.
The Bingo C6 comes with a 1.3 inch capacitive touch screen with NANO toughened glass and 240*240 screen resolution. The watch has solid stainless steel casing and a Band made of TPU material. It can be connected via Bluetooth 4.0 and SIM card and is compatible with Android and iOS.
The C6 is powered by a MTK2502C processor and a 380 mAh battery that claims to offer 3 hours of talk time and 180 hours of stand by time. The C6 comes with an internal memory of 128 MB which can be expanded to another 64 MB via micro SD card.

Nokia 216
A majority of Indians still use feature phones but with smartphones’ price decreasing everyday, it is very difficult to imagine a future of feature phones. Nonetheless, Microsoft decided to launch this feature phone in India at 2,495.
Featuring two cameras with LED flash, the internet-enabled Nokia 216 Dual SIM comes with Opera Mobile Store. As per Microsoft, users can download one free Gameloft game every month for a year, and enjoy popular titles like GT Racing and Little Big City.
For entertainment and music, the Nokia 216 Dual SIM comes with an FM Radio, MP3 and video player, and Bluetooth audio support for headsets. The phone has an 8 megapixel auto focus rear camera and a 5 megapixel fixed focus front camera. It has 16 GB of internal storage and surprisingly, it doesn’t have any expandable storage slot.
Besides, the Micromax Canvas 5 Lite has WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0 and a 2000 mAh battery. As per Snapdeal listing, it has FM radio, 3.5 mm jack and dual SIM.

Xiaomi Mi Band 2
The Band 2 has been launched at Rs 1,999 and will be available on Amazon India on September 30.
