CES 2018: JBL unveils its new range of wireless earphones, portable speakers

The list includes the JBL LINK View, JBL Xtreme 2, JBL Clip 3 and the JBL Go 2. The wireless earphones section has the JBL Everest series and the JBL Endurance series.

Harman, a sub-brand of Samsung Electronics has announced its new range of wireless earphone and speakers at the Consumer Electronics Show 2018. Under the portable speaker section, the list includes the JBL LINK View, JBL Xtreme 2, JBL Clip 3 and the JBL Go 2. The wireless earphones section has the JBL Everest series and the JBL Endurance series.

JBL LINK View, JBL Xtreme 2, JBL Clip 3 and the JBL Go 2

Starting with the JBL LINK View, it is claimed to be the first smart speaker to incorporate the Google Assistant with an 8-inch touch display and a 5-megapixel camera. The speaker is equipped with two front-firing stereo speakers and a rear-facing passive radiator, which the company promises to deliver rich sound and deep bass. It is IPX4 splash proof with WiFi and connectivity.

Priced at $299 the JBL Xtreme 2 will be available in the late first quarter in Midnight Black, Forest Green, and Ocean Blue colour variants. The major highlight of the speaker is that it comes with the JBL Connect+, allowing users to wirelessly link one-hundred or more Connect+-enabled speakers, amplifying the experience through a connected ecosystem. Further, it is IPX7 rated, provides up to 15 hours of battery life and has noise and echo cancelling speaker phones so all calls are crystal clear.

Moving to the JBL Clip 3 and JBL Go 2, will be available at a price tag of $59 and $39 respectively. The Clip 3 features up to 10 hours of battery in a single charge, while the Go 2 lasts up to 5 hours. The speakers are IPX7 dust and water rated, which means they can be submerged up to 3.3 feet water for 30 min and available in multi-colours.

JBL Everest series and JBL Endurance Series

The Everest series includes the 110GA, 310GA and 710GA earphones are priced at $99, $199 and $249 respectively. The earphones are supported by the Google Assistant functionality for voice control and available in Gunmetal Silver and Mountain Silver, however, the 110GA is also available in Steel Blue, while the 310GA in Copper Brown, and Rocky Purple.

Starting with the 110GA, it has an in-ear design with up to 8 hours of battery life and comes with small, medium and large ear-tips. The 310GA spots an on-ear look and lasts up to 20 hours, while the 710GA has an over-the-ear design and gives up to 25 hours of playback time.

Other than this company has also showcased the JBL Endurance series. The lineup includes the Endurance DIVE, Endurance JUMP, Endurance SPRINT and the Endurance RUN. The price range and availability are not disclosed yet.

The Sprint, Jump, and Dive wireless earphones are specially designed for swimmers. The SPRINT features a magnetic earbud which allows it to store easily. While the JUMP come with a neckband, and the DIVE is similar to the JUMP but can store 1GB of music, so that one can easily access music without any smartphone. Other than this, the RUN wired earphones are not designed for swimmers, they are IPX5 sweatproof rating and comes with a tangle-free cord with a remote and microphone.

Further, the earphones come with an on-ear touch to switch between tracks and control volume. The company claims to offer 8 hours of playtime, and a fast charge rate of one hour of playback per every 10 minutes of charge for Endurance series.
