Samsung has made a slew of announcements during the on-going Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2017. The company has unveiled two new Chromebooks designed for Google Play dubbed as Samsung Chromebook Plus and Chromebook Pro.
The South Korean giant has also entered into gaming domain by introducing Samsung Notebook Odyssey gaming laptop. Lastly, the company has announced Samsung Notebook 9 15-inch device during the world’s largest tech show.
Samsung Chromebook Plus and Chromebook Pro
The Chromebook Plus and Chromebook Pro sports a 12.3-inch QHD LED display with a screen resolution of 2400×1600 pixels. The Chromebooks also come equipped with a 360-degree rotating touchscreen which allows one to use it as a notebook or a tablet. Both the Chromebooks also features a built-in pen, which is embedded on the side of the device. The pen has a 0.7mm pen tip and pressure sensitivity for precise screen capturing.
Starting with the Chromebook Pro, the device is powered by an Intel Core M3 processor coupled with Intel HD Graphics 515 GPU. The Chromebook is powered by a 4GB LPDDR3 RAM and 32GB of eMMC storage. On the connectivity front, the device comes with one 3.5mm audio jack, two USB Type-C ports which support charging and 4K output and a microSD card reader, Wi-Fi 802.11 ac (2×2). The device is powered by a 39Wh battery, which the company claims can deliver up to 8 hours of battery life. The Chromebook Pro comes in Platinum Silver and measures 280.8 x 221.6 x 12.9 ~ 13.9mm, while it weighs 1.08kgs.
On the other hand, the Chromebook Plus is powered by a hexacore processor along with Intel Graphics, while rest of the specifications remains the same.
Samsung Notebook Odyssey
Samsung Notebook Odyssey, gaming laptop, comes with 17.3-inch and 15.6-inch models. The company is introduced a red-backlit keyboard on 15.6-inch variant and a multicoloured keyboard on its higher-end laptop. Both the variants are powered by up to Up to 7th Generation Intel Core i7 processor and come with HexaFlow vents for cooling and ventilate the system so that it remains at a suitable temperature. These vents are located at the bottom of the device and can be removed to upgrade storage and memory.
The 17.3-inch variant comes with a full HD display with a brightness of 300nits, while the 15.6-inch variant sports a brightness of 280 nits. The 17.3-inch comes with more advanced specs with up to 64GB DDR4 RAM, up to 512GB PCIE SSD storage along with 1TB HDD storage and a 93WH battery. The graphics card has not being revealed by the company. On the other hand, the 15.6-inch comes with up to 32 GB DDR4 of RAM, 256 GB PCIE SSD and 1 TB HDD storage, a Nvidia GTX1050 graphics card, and a 43Wh battery. On the connectivity front, the 17.2-inch variant sports Type-C (Thunderbolt3), four USB 3.0 ports, HDMI and LAN, while the 15.6-inch variant support one USB 3.0 port, two USB 2.0 ports, HDM a LAN.
Samsung Notebook 9 15-inch
The notebook comes sports a 15-inch full HD display with a brightness of 350nits. The laptop is powered by the 7th generation of Intel Core i7 processor along with NVIDIA 940MX graphics card. The laptop is backed by a 16GB of DDR4 RAM and 256GB of SSD storage option. The latest laptop runs on Windows 10 Home and offers a battery life of 15 hours on a single charge. The Notebook 9 also houses a built-in fingerprint sensor and supports Windows Hello, which enables secure sign-in with a single touch. The notebook offer one USB-C Thunderbolt port for quick charging and 4k display out, two USB 3.0 ports and one 1 USB 2.0.
