Caterpillar, the construction and mining giant which manufactures tough Android smartphones, has announced the launch of a new rugged Android smartphone, named the Cat B15.
Cat B15 is an IP-67 Ingress certified smartphone, which means it can withstand dust, water, drop and even impact. Cat B1 is capable of withstanding water immersion up to 1 meter for 30 minutes as well as 1.8 meter falls on concrete floors. The device is also dustproof and comes with a special surface to protect the display.
Cat B15 features Android’s latest Jelly Bean operating system along with a 1 GHz dual core application processor, a 5 Megapixel rear camera and a front facing camera for video chatting. Its 4 inch display has 800 x 480 pixel resolution. For more protection, the display has been made with Gorilla glass.
The phone is a 3G capable device with single SIM connectivity along with WiFi and Bluetooth wireless connectivity options. It comes with 512 MB RAM and 4 GB of onboard storage along with a 32 GB expandable storage slot.
The device has been priced at 322 Euros or Rs 27,000 approximately including international shipping for India as well. It will be made available worldwide through Caterpillar’s authorised dealers this year.
