Canon unveils EOS RP full-frame mirrorless camera

The new Canon EOS RP full-frame mirrorless camera features a 26.2 megapixel CMOS sensor which is powered by the company’s DIGIC 8 image processor. The camera comes with Dual Pixel CMOS Auto Focus that can track up to 4,779 manually selectable AF points.

Several months after introducing its first full-frame mirrorless EOS R camera, Canon has unveiled its second camera in the EOS R lineup with the launch of the Canon EOS RP full-frame mirrorless camera. The EOS RP is designed for photographers looking to step up from Canon’s APS-C cameras and offers an affordable take on full-frame mirrorless photography. The Canon EOS RP full-frame mirrorless camera will be available for an asking price of $1299.00 (approx. Rs 92,300).

The new Canon EOS RP full-frame mirrorless camera features a 26.2 CMOS sensor which is powered by the company’s DIGIC 8 image processor. The camera comes with Dual Pixel CMOS Auto Focus that can track up to 4,779 manually selectable AF points and covers a wide area of 88 percent horizontal and 100 percent vertical.

Canon EOS RP full-frame mirrorless camera

Similar to its predecessor, the EOS RP is built around the same 54mm mount diameter and short-back focus. This allows for the use of one of three optional mount adapters for full compatibility with all existing EF, EF-S, TS-E and MP-E lenses. The camera weighs in at 485 grams with an card and battery included.

The device equips a Visual Guide mode which allows users to see on screen how switching modes on the mode dial or tweaking settings can alter the image they are about to capture. There’s a Creative Assist mode that allows photographers to use new and unique visual effects and adjustments when shooting, such as brightness, contrast, saturation, colour tone, and background blur.

The Canon EOS RP additionally features a 0.39 inch, 2.36 million dot Electronic Viewfinder with Touch-and-Drag autofocus. There’s a 3-inch screen which can be used at various angles. The camera can record videos at 24 and 1080p videos at 60 fps and has an ISO range of 100-25,600. For connectivity, the EOS RP is integrated with WiFi and Bluetooth.

The Canon EOS RP full-frame mirrorless camera will be available for an asking price of $1299.00 (approx. Rs 92,300) for body only. The camera with an RF 24-105mm f/4 lens and 24-105mm f/3.5 – 5.6 IS EF-mount lens bundles can be purchased for $2,199 (approx. Rs 1,56,300) and $1,699 (approx. Rs 1,20,800) respectively.
