Byond brings 4.5 inch phone with Android 4.1 for Rs 10K

Named Byond B63, it comes with an 8 megapixel camera and 1.2 GHz dual core processor as well.

Byond, an Indian handset manufacture which recently launched a 6 inch Phablet (read review here) too, has now launched a new smartphone with 4.5 inch qHD (540 x 960 pixel) display running on 4.1.1 Jelly Bean operating system.

The dual SIM phone, called as Byond B63, is available for Rs 9,999. It has a 1.2 GHz Dual Core processor, 512 RAM, 8 camera at the back and a 0.3 megapixel front facing camera.

Byond B63 comes with the support for nine regional languages. It has an inbuilt memory of 4 out of which 2 GB is available for users to store their content. You can also expand the memory by up to 32 GB through a micro SD card. The phone has a decent 2000 mAh battery as well. The phone supports all the regular connectivity features like 3G, Wifi, and GPS.

The Byond B63 competes with recently launched Spice Stellar Virtuoso, iBall Andi 4.5H, Salora PowerMaxx Z1 and Xolo 800 etc. The phone is better equipped than Spice Virtuoso with slightly larger battery and latest operating system and is Rs 500 cheaper as well. While Salora Powermaxx is better equipped with much larger battery and features like active noise cancellation, it is costlier than Byond B63 by about Rs 3000.

The iBall Andi on the other hand has a slightly better 1 GB RAM but has smaller 1600 mAH battery and older OS (Android 4.0) and is also costlier by Rs 2,500 than this Byond smartphone. Xolo 800 which is priced at Rs 11,999 comes with better camera with BSI (Backside illumination) sensor for better low light photography and also offers 8 GB card free. However this phone too runs on Android 4.0.

All in all, in terms of price and features, Byond B63 looks better than its competitors. However, Byond is a relatively unknown brand and that might hamper the prospects of this phone.
