State run telecom operator, BSNL will set up 40,000 WiFi hotspots across the country, according to a report of Economic Times while others claimed a more conservative figure of 20,000 hotspots.
Economic Times quoted BSNL chairman and managing director Anupam Srivastava saying that the operator will be setting up the WiFi hotspots in next two year.
However, Business Standard’s report read, “The company will set up about 20,000 WiFi hotspots in these nine states, which include Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Chattisgarh, covering over 600 million people.”
Meanwhile, Trak.in claimed that “the service will be free for the first 15 minutes of use, following payment options for the next amount of time clocked on the internet. Plans start at Rs. 30 for half an hour to Rs 200 for a month. BSNL promises the speed to be up to 20MBPS”.
Notably, BSNL has recently launched 5G WiFi Hotspots in nine locations in Tirupati. Last year 5G WiFi Hotspot services were launched by the state run telecom company in Visakhapatnam.
