State owned telecom service provider, BSNL is reportedly set to roll out its 4G (LTE) services in 14 telecom circles.
BSNL currently offers its 2G and 3G services in 20 circles of the total 22 telecom circles of India. It bought 2500 MHz spectrum in all the 20 circles to offer 4G services but later returned airwaves of Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Kolkata circles.
BSNL has 20MHz spectrum in 2,500MHz Band in the rest of the 14 circles. The operator has recently soft launched its 4G services in Chandigarh where it reportedly demonstrated speed of up to 35 Mbps.
Currently Bharti Airtel, Idea Cellular and Vodafone are major 4G service providers in the country. They have expanded their 4G network to many key circles. But it is Reliance Jio whose service roll out is eagerly awaited.
