Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has announced that it is upgrading the landlines services that will allow users to send text messages, and video calls through landlines phones.
The telephone exchanges are being upgraded with Next Generation Networking (NGN) technology and it is currently happening in Rajasthan, reports PTI. The company will begin the process starting from Bundi district.
With this, BSNL users can enjoy smartphone-like features including sending text messages, video calling and person ring back tone (PRBT) through the landline phones. Further, they receive landline calls on their mobile handset, which would be interesting. The state-owned telecom operator says that users need to upgrade their old landline phones with IP phone to avail these facilities.
Meanwhile, BSNL recently introduced Rs 499 postpaid plan to counter Airtel, Reliance Jio and Vodafone. Users can avail offers as much as 45GB of monthly data to the customers. Under this offer, BSNL users will get 45GB monthly data, unlimited calling and 100 SMS per day to the users, reports TelecomTalk. However, this plan does not come with data rollover facility which means that the unused data cannot be leftover for further usage in the next billing cycle.
So the customer should consume 45GB data within the current month itself. The Rs 499 postpaid plan gives users unlimited voice calls to any network even on Roaming without any daily or monthly FUP limit.
