BlackBerry 10.3 OS update to add Amazon App Store

BlackBerry has signed a licensing agreement with Amazon to integrate the Amazon App Store in the upcoming BlackBerry 10.3 OS update to bring in more Android based apps.

BlackBerry has announced its partnership with Amazon. As a part of the deal BlackBerry is integrating Amazon Store in its upcoming BlackBerry 10.3 OS update. With that, the BlackBerry 10 device owners will get access to several free and paid apps through the Amazon App Store.

BlackBerry 10.3 OS update is expected to bring several new features and under the hood enhancements for the BlackBerry 10.2 OS devices. One of the major feature in the BlackBerry 10.3 OS update will be the Amazon App Store integration. The Amazon App Store will let the users browse, download and enjoy all the Android based apps available. Amazon also offers certain paid apps as free for a day on frequent basis. In short, all popular Android based apps can be enjoyed on the BlackBerry 10.3 OS update running devices.

BlackBerry is also working to update the support for the Android Runtime to let developers bring in more apps through the Amazon App Store. Apart from that, BlackBerry will be closing the Music and Video sections in the BlackBerry App World from July 21st and the list of countries where this will be effective also includes India.

Though BlackBerry has specified no date for the BlackBerry 10.3 OS update launch, the updated is expected to roll out between late September to mid October time.
