Beetel, the handset brand of Bharti Airtel, is going to launch a 7 inch Android tablet in the first half of August. However, there is no information yet on the version of Android the device will use, or on how much it will cost.
Talking to ‘The Mobile Indian’, a spokesperson of the company said, “We do not want to comment at this moment about the details. However, we will launch the tablet in the first half of August and as with any other product from Beetel, this tablet will be feature rich and price competitive.”
We expect the tablet to run on Android 2.2 with 3G support and it is most likely to be priced between Rs 15,000-18,000.
The spokesperson added, “We will initially launch one tablet only, followed by Android based smartphones in the next two months.”
Though the spokesperson refused to divulge details, we expect the phones to be priced in the Rs 6,000-9,000 bracket since Beetle’s competitors, such as Spice and Micromax, already have products in this bracket and anything more expensive will be tough to sell.
