Asus ROG Phone 2 images leaked, confirmed to come with Snapdragon 855 Plus SoC

The Asus ROG Phone 2 phone will be the successor of the ROG Phone launched in June last year.

Asus will be launching its next-generation gaming-centric phone – ROG Phone 2 on July 23 in China. Now ahead of the launch, a couple of real-life images of the upcoming gaming smartphone have been leaked online on the Chinese microblog website, Weibo.

The leaked images show the front design of the Asus ROG Phone 2. They show that the ROG Phone 2 will feature a relatively thick bezels on its top and bottom. It will come with a traditional design without any notch or punch-hole in the display.

The selfie camera on the smartphone is located in the top-right corner. The design of the phone seems like a typical ROG Phone suitable for heavy gaming. The other image shows the option to choose between the three refresh rates – 60Hz, 90Hz and 120Hz.

On the other hand, Asus has also officially revealed that the ROG Phone 2 will be the first smartphone to be equipped with Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 855 Plus chipset. The 855 Plus has a clock rate of 2.96GHz which is 4.2% faster than the current Snapdragon 855 Mobile Platform. The Adreno 640 delivers 15% faster graphics performance than the current Snapdragon 855 chipset.

The Asus ROG Phone 2 phone will be the successor of the ROG Phone launched in June last year. The ROG Phone 2 would feature a 120Hz as compared to 90Hz refresh rate in ROG phone. The Asus ROG Phone 2 will reportedly come in two variants, with the base model having a price tag of RMB 4,399 (around Rs 44,300). The specifications of the upcoming smartphone are scarce at the moment. The phone might have a cooling system and a glowing Asus logo, like its predecessor.
