Asus Fonepad tablet, which was unveiled during the Mobile world Congress just about a couple of days back, will be launched in the Russian market this month itself, according to a report of a website (hi-tech.mail.ru). It is reportedly to be priced at Rs 20,000.
Although the price is much more than what was being expected earlier but considering Asus’s expertise in making such products, the price tag is also justified.
Following the launch in international markets, the Asus Fonepad is likely to be launched in the Indian market in the month of April.
The Fonepad will come in two versions, one with 8 GB internal storage and a 3 megapixel rear camera for the APAC region, and a 16 GB model without a rear camera for the European markets. Now which model will make its way to the Indian market will only be revealed in the weeks to follow.
The Asus Fonepad is an Android 4.1 Jelly Bean based tablet which is powered by Atom Z2420 processor running at 1.2 GHz. The tablet has all the features of a smartphone including voice call and 3G support.
Asus Fonepad features a 7 inch IPS panel with HD 1280 x 800 resolution and the Fonepad has 1 GB of RAM and comes in 8 GB and 16 GB storage variants. It also has a micro SD card slot for up to 32 GB of additional storage along with 5 GB of Cloud Storage offered by Asus.
The Asus Fonepad also comes with a front 1.2 megapixel camera and a 3 megapixel Autofocus rear camera with 720p HD video recording capability.
The tablet can also be used for voice calls using the built-in earpiece along with the noise-cancelling digital microphone or by using a Bluetooth headset much like the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 P3100.
